  1. Dear Karolina Patryk,

thank you very much for your great tips about Czechia.
Regarding my home country – CZECHIA – i would very much ask you to replace CZECH REPUBLIC for CZECHIA.
Our country has more than 1200 years old history and only very small part of it is the history of republican system. Czechia is a geographical name, which is independent on time and state-political changes in the country, thus, it can be used for our country both in historical and contemporary context. (Czechia = Bohemia + Moravia + Silesia). Czech Republic is only (and nothing more than) the current state formation in Czechia.

Please be aware that CZECHIA is now official short name of the Czech Republic https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#iso:code:3166:CZ http://www.state.gov/p/eur/ci/ez/
Please update your drop down menu accordingly.

It is a matter of importance and respect for us, the Czechs!

    Many thanks and best regards

    1. It is not that simple. For me, also native czech, is nicer to say Czech Republic. As We hadn’t short name, it was the same as France, German etc.
And, If We in this time talk about country (footbal team from …, race won this Woman from …, new law was established in …), We everytime mean that state, not geographical place. So, isn’t unimportant, If you say Czechia or Czech republic?

  2. Call our country Czechia, please. Czech Republic is noth else than the current state formation in Czechia. Our country has more than 1200 years old history and only very small part of it is conjoined with republican system. Czechia is an official geographic name of our country. Its use is timeless and universal. Thank you.
