6 Top Christmas Destinations in Europe
Christmas is the most amazing time of the year. Not only everyone is celebrating but also we have a time to stop and focus on what really matters. We are saying goodbye to the old year and preparing to welcome, the new, better one. Where to spend this important time? Here are top 5 Christmas destinations in Europe.
1. Kraków
The most beautiful city of Poland turns into a magical Christmas village at winter. The Old Town is beautiful decorated with the lights and trees. You can warm up with a glass of mulled wine and try traditional Polish food at one of the Christmas markets. The best part is that everything is very cheap! Krakow is a great winter destination for all the budget travelers.
2. Rovaniemi
The Arctic Circle, homeland of Santa Claus is the best place to spend Christmas not only in Europe but also in the entire world. Rovaniemi is located in Northern Finland. Even though on December the day lasts there for only 4 hours, it’s perfectly enough to have fun with the reindeers or play with the husky dogs. When the sun goes down, you can see the beautiful Aurora Borealis on the sky.
3. Berlin
Hands down, Berlin is one of the most amazing places in Europe. It’s even more magical during a Christmas time. The city is beautifully decorated and has many Christmas markets to visit. You won’t get bored in the capital of Germany on December.
If you are looking for a good place to stay in Berlin, check out BestWestern Hotel Kantstrasse. We spent 3 amazing days in this hotel- every morning we ate delicious breakfast and then started sightseeing. There is a subway stop right next to Kantstrasse Hotel, so it’s very easy to get around the city.

If you have more time than us in Germany, take a day trip to neighboring Dresden or Potsdam. The Christmas markets are magical as well there! If you book a taxi to Dresden or go there using the public transport, you will be able to visit the famous Striezelmarkt which is one of the top Christmas markets in Germany.
4. Vienna
With great Christmas markets, famous gluhwein, amazing monuments and unique atmosphere, Vienna is one of the hottest winter destinations in Europe.
If you decide to extend your stay in the city for another few days, you can go to the famous New Year’s concert performed by Vienna Philharmonic. Some people wait the entire day to finally go to Vienna and hear this beautiful music!

We are Karolina, Patryk, and Mia, the lazy traveling family. After spending 5 years as digital nomads, and living in many countries in the world, we decided to make Poland our base.
