1. Take your partner to Bangkok Grand Palace

Bangkok?s Grand Palace is one of the most visited places so reach here early to admire the palace grounds and see the Emerald Buddha housed in its environs. Called Wat Phra Kaew, it is considered one of the most impressive Buddha statues in the world and the protector of Thailand.

Getting here is fairly simple using the BTS Skytrain. Arrive at the Saphan Taksin station and follow the signs to the boat pier and you?ll reach the entrance eventually.

2. Visit Bangkok?s Temples

Climb the stairs of Wat Arun to take in one the views of the Chao Phraya river and central Bangkok. Walk around its five towers and the temple complex decorated with ceramic tiles and porcelain. Called Temple of the Dawn, Wat Arun is one of the most important temples to visit in Bangkok.

Cross over the river to visit Wat Pho, another important Buddhist temple containing a golden reclining Buddha. The 43 meter long and 15-meter high statue is covered in gold leaf and is studded with mother of pearl decorations.

Take a taxi to Wat Arun. After your done with visiting this temple, cross over the river to visit Wat Pho, another important Buddhist temple containing a golden reclining Buddha.

Wat Arun is open from 8 AM to 5.30 PM, it costs 50 baht to visit.

3. Have a drink at Rooftop Bar

After all the walking around, you deserve to spend some quality time with your partner at one of the many rooftop bars dotting the city. Bangkok looks wonderful at night and is best enjoyed from a rooftop bar.

The Sky Bar at Lebua Hotel is one of the most well-known and a visit here doesn?t disappoint. Admire Bangkok from 63 floors up top with a drink or two at the bar that is open from 6 PM to 1 AM. Remember to wear smart casuals as the staff are strict with the dress code. No flip-flops under any circumstances!

1. Go to Jim Thompson House

Start your day with a visit to Jim Thompson?s house. Who?s he you ask? Well, he?s the person single-handedly responsible for reviving traditional Thai silk. He loved the country so much he bought six traditional houses where he lived for almost three decades. The place is full of natural surroundings and guided tours take place on a frequent basis.

You can easily get there by tuck tuck, taxi or BTS station.

The place is open from 9 AM to 6 PM and costs 200 baht. You can enjoy excellent breakfast at the onsite restaurant here with Western and Thai dishes on offer.

2. Head to Chinatown.

Of all the Chinatowns in the world, the one in Bangkok is probably the most eclectic. With food stalls serving every kind of dish imaginable and neon lights taking you to China in a flash, this is a must-visit place on any Bangkok itinerary.

There are some excellent traditional Chinese joints serving some of the best Cantonese dishes in the world. On the stalls outside, you can try snacks from Thailand and China such as deep-fried donuts, mango and sticky rice and even durian pieces. Go with a full appetite and appreciate the always-hustling Chinese here.

China Town is best accessed by river. You can get off at Ratchawong Pier and walk two lanes to Yaowarat Road to reach the heart of Chinatown. There are various street food stalls, Chinese restaurants and a pagoda as well.

It’ll easily take around three hours to explore the area and grab a meal.

3. Visit Flower Market

Once sated, return to central Bangkok at the popular flower market, the best place to impress your significant other with some flower power. Called Pak Khlong Talat, the market is located to Memorial Bridge and is the biggest wholesale and retail flower market in Bangkok with a wide variety of flowers on sale. The market is open 24 hours a day but late evenings are the best time to visit this place as the dealers and tourists have more or less disappeared at this time. There are also a few stalls nearby if you want to load up on some food.

It takes little over an hour to stroll through the market and is free unless you buy any flowers.

4. Take a river cruise

Finally, take a river cruise along the Chao Phraya river with plenty of options to choose from. You can opt for the two-hour dinner cruise offered by several operators for about $30 or you can simply bargain a price with local boat owners who will take you along the river for an hour visiting some of the lesser-known jaunts on their wooden longboats for about $15. Whatever you decide, you?ll be sure to have a memorable last experience in this fascinating city.
